2 tid bits
First bit: Last night I finally finished "The Time Traveler's Wife". I have mixed reviews on the book, but all in all I thought it was a great read! A true love story that I could somewhat relate to...as funny as that may sound. The first page of the novel got me hooked.
Synopsis: "The Time Traveler's Wife" is about a love that transcends time. Clare has been in love with Henry her entire life. She believes they are destined to be together, even though she never knows when they will be separated: Henry is a time traveler - cursed with a rare genetic anomaly that causes him to live his life on a shifting timeline, skipping back and forth through his lifespan with no control. Despite the fact that Henry's travels force them apart with no warning, Clare desperately tries to rebuild a life with her one true love." - now onto the new Dan Brown novel: The Lost Symbol
Second bit: I stumbled across a new CD that I am very much enjoying (yes I still buy Cd's...in my previous life music would magically appear for me). For all you Pete Yorn fans, he has a new cd out with Scarlett Johansson called Break Up. It's really good. Very Pete Yorn styles...but Scarlett 'multi talented' Johansson adds a little bit of an old 50's vibe. She is very good and soulful...you'll know what I mean when you listen to it. Anywho I recommend the purchase!
Ps. Thank you Laurie for hearing my call. I can't thank you enough! xo

hmmm
So I find these days I am a little bit of a lost soul...and the sad thing to know is, I have several friends who are sharing the same thoughts. 2 years ago I stepped off my path and evaluated my life...what do I want to do career wise, where do I see myself in 5 years, what kind of person do I want to be...and after answering those questions...I thought becoming a teacher would suit me the best. However, it seems many other people thought the same thing. As many of you might know, there are currently NO teaching jobs out there. I recently applied to a posting and got a response back saying we are going through the 700 applications we have received and will be getting back to you should you be granted an interview. excuse me? I am even on the 'frozen' eligible to hire list for the TDSB which says they aren't inviting anyone to join the supply list yet....I even had to have an interview to get on this frozen list. argh! I literally feel as if I have exhausted all options (though I will keep pushing forward)...but I now find myself re-evaluating my life again. If I can't teach...then what? Do I go back to what I know? Do I try something new (that doesn't include tuition)? What is it I enjoy doing the most? I have yet to answer that question, as I still feel the answer is working in education..but thought this excerpt was suiting or at least makes me think.
dedicated to my niagara uni friends:
Don't Hurry
Don't worry and fuss about what you're going to do tomorrow, or how tomorrow's answers will come. The way to get through a task, a day, a life is to stay in the present moment.
Racing, pushing, trying to force things forward doesn't work. Not anymore. Hurrying will not speed up the process, or the journey. In fact, if you race ahead of yourself, you may find you need to go back, return to the parts you skipped over, and go through it again fully present.
Yes, there are times we need to press on, times we need to push a bit more. But hurrying won't speed up the process. It will just keep us tense, out of step. To speed up the process, we need to fully immerse ourselves in the moment and then focus our energy, our presence, our emotions, our thoughts, our heart.
Stay in the present moment. Listen to your heart right now. Be gentle and loving with yourself right now. Be open to the guidance around you right now, guidance that will make the present moment come alive.
If you stay in your heart, stay with
yourself, stay in the present, tomorrow's
answers will come just as today's did -
naturally, gently, and on time.
ps. Needed: A job!
pps. At least I have a great weekend to look forward to...Boobyball, Keith Urban Concert and Blanche Nuit

trust each moment
Trust. Trust. Trust. Again and again, that's the issue. See how much of your pain, your anguish, your tension arises simply from not trusting the absolute perfection of the present moment. I've lost my way. I'm off track. I'm somehow wrong - in the wrong place at the wrong time, doing the wrong thing. Where I'm going is a dead end. Oh, dear...
You are not off track. You haven't lost your way. You're going somewhere worth going. Somewhere magnificant beyond the ability of your mind to comprehend. By trusting the perfection of each moment, you give yourself a gift: permission to enjoy the journey.
Don't just take the trip
Let yourself enjoy the ride.

What have you been up to?
As I sit here and procrastinate a wee bit, I can't help to remember a conversation Heather, her friend John and I, had after a concert. Somehow when we were chatting and the conversation lead to the question: when someone asks you, 'what have you been up to this past year?', how would you answer?... all of our automatic reactions would have been to answer "not much, you?"...but when we got more into it, we re-asked each other and came up with a more in depth and thought out answer. It was amazing to hear what we all had to say. A lot sure can happen in a year. Here is what I would say to the person questioning:
This past year I have (in no particular order)...
This past year I have (in no particular order)...
- Trained and completed 3 marathons
- Qualified for the 2010 Boston Marathon
- Travelled for the first time to the South of France
- Graduated from Teacher's college
- Was a bridesmaid for the first time
- Felt a broken heart
- Went on my first blind date in 29 years ... and my second
- Started to open my heart to another
- Had champagne on top of the Eiffel Tower (yup that is one for the books)
- Became closer to my support team
- Started from zero ... but have been picking up the pieces slowly
- Became an aunt to a 1 year old
- Biked 95kms in Florida
- ...and many more...
Poor chap who decides to ask me what I have been up to this past year. ha! Hope everyone had a great weekend! xo (What have you been up to?)

remembering
As the soot and dirt and ash rained down, we became one colour.
As we carried each other down the stairs of the burning building, we became one class.
As we lit candles of waiting and hoping, we became one generation.
As the firefighters and police officers fought their way into the inferno, we became one gender.
As we fell to our knees in prayer for strength, we became one faith.
As we whispered or shouted words of encouragement, we spoke one language.
As we gave our blood in lines a mile long, we became one body.
As we mourned together the great loss, we became one family.
As we cried tears of grief and loss, we became one soul.
As we retell with pride the sacrifice of heroes, we become one people.

Rollasole
This morning as I was making the long commute from tdot to the hammer I was listening to my fav duo Mad Dog and Billie (guest staring today)...speak to the maker of Rollasole and couldn't help but be pumped and amazed about what a great idea this new company has devised. Here is a little tid bit about the new invention....
Rollasole, roll up flats, sell for about $8 from a vending machine.
After a night of clubbing in your killer heels and you find yourself winding your way home, most women will 1. jump on the back of the nearest guy for a lift, or 2. slip off the heels and walk through the grunge to get some foot relief. (or 3 cry it out and suffer the consequences the next day...boo hoo) Now for about $8, Rollasoles can give you relief without throwing out a guy's back, or throwing away self respect. The little flats come in a tiny duffle, from a cigarette size vending machine. Matt Horan, the Sole Director, of Rollasole, was hit with this brainstorm while coming out of the drunken stupor. He was sick of giving his girlfriend piggyback rides on the way home from clubbing. The new shoes have yet to make their ways over seas to North America...but when they do I feel they will be a big hit. Some fav shoe names: Gold digger, Silver Lining, Back to Black. check out: http://www.rollasoles.com/ for more information.
Ps. hope everyone had a great last weekend of the summer. sigh!
Pps. Good luck to all students and teachers. Have a great first day of school!

Promise yourself to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. Look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. Think only of the best, work only for the best, and expect only the best. Forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. Give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. Live in the faith that the whole world is on your side so long as you are true to the best that is in you!
