Product Endorsement #7

This Christmas my parents bought me the Nook Color. I was excited but still a little hesitant as I love holding books and magazines in my hand, and also love seeing books on my shelves. However, I have grown to love it and look forward to reading magazines and books on it, as well as surfing the web and playing games in the car. Unfortunately you need an American address to use it, however if you have the opportunity I would totally recommend it! It's a mini Ipad minus the apps. Love it!
ps. on my way to scope out some skates as Chris and I are hitting the rink next to us. hope everyone enjoys their weekend and has a great Valentines. We are celebrating this eve, as tomorrow night I have a double header soccer game at LP. holla!

Book Review

Just recently I finished a book called "The Guru In You". I was watching Ellen one day and the author was on the show promoting his book and explaining the purpose behind it...I was his target audience because right then and there I ordered it onto my Nook and started reading right away. I think with all books that helps you to recognize things in your life, you have to take it in slowly and choose what you want to gain from it. Anywho I thought it was very enlightening and every so often I would read to Chris certain excerpts and he too was intrigued. I definitely recommend this book: So here is the run down of what the book is all about.
The Guru in You A Personalized Program for Rejuvenating Your Body and Soul
The Guru in You invites you to embark on a journey to reconnect with your body and discover its natural ability to heal. As the first male supermodel, Cameron Alborzian had a life that many dream of—traveling the globe, working with the most prestigious designers in the world, partying with celebrities, and appearing in major ad campaigns and cultural landmarks like Madonna's "Express Yourself" video.
But his real achievement came when he decided to leave the material world of high fashion and investigate the ancient art of Ayurvedic healing. What he learned changed his life, and, after years of study, he now works with everyone from Hollywood celebrities to executives of international corporations to bring balance, improved health, and inner peace to their busy lives. The tools he provides for his clients are now available to all with The Guru in You.
Most of us will never have a live-in guru, but Yogi Cameron provides the next best thing: an easy-to-follow program, guiding you to better health and happiness. The Guru in You lays the foundation for change, helping us identify our unhealthy patterns and set our intentions. It then provides you with a customizable plan. Whatever your body type and temperament, Yogi Cameron offers diet, supplements, breathing exercises, and yoga tailored just for you. This is not a one-size-fits all program but an invitation to develop a practice that you'll take with you for the rest of your life.

No longer born on a cusp

More procrastination...sooo things are a changing...as I am sure all of you have heard a group of astronomers have decided that now is the time to include the 13 zodiac sign that has always been looked over: Ophiuchus. Interesting. Though I have never been huge into horoscopes I have always somewhat had in my mind that I was both a Gemini and Taurus. I was born on a cusp yet I would always relate more to the Gemini characteristics. But since times have changed, I am officially a Taurus. Not sure how I feel about that, but can learn to adapt I guess?!?! I just didn't think it was possible to change the dates of zodiac signs. Here are the new dates:
Capricorn: Jan. 20 - Feb. 16
Aquarius: Feb. 16 - March 11
Pisces: March 11- April 18
Aries: April 18- May 13
Taurus: May 13- June 21
Gemini: June 21- July 20
Cancer: July 20- Aug. 10
Leo: Aug. 10- Sept. 16
Virgo: Sept. 16- Oct. 30
Libra: Oct. 30- Nov. 23
Scorpio: Nov. 23- Nov. 29
Ophiuchus: Nov. 29- Dec. 17
Sagittarius: Dec. 17- Jan. 20

I was looking up online what a Taurus is all about and came across what it is like to date the new me...a Taurus woman. oh dear!

What it's like to date a Taurus Woman: Taurus women are masters in the art of seduction. She will get what she wants but her patience is incredible, she will wait for what she wants. She needs stability and security and will not tolerate a man who is not straight with her and leads her along with uncertainty in the future. She is the old-fashioned type, the type of woman who is associated with the drive-in soda shop days of the 60's. She is down to earth, protective, supportive, loving, devoted and loyal. She is openly affectionate in a relationship. Taurus women is perfect for the man who likes to be nurtured and pampered, providing you are loyal and devoted. She has a lot to give but she requires a lot in return. Remember, the Taurus woman is very sensitive although she might not seem so on the exterior. Court her and constantly try to impress her and you will win her heart and she will be yours. Cross a Taurus woman, and her temper will flare, she will become extremely stubborn. If you ever break her trust, it will be nearly impossible to gain it back again.
ps. I already miss being a Gemini. sigh

easy peasy banana bread

So I dable at cooking...I don't mind it if it's easy and I know it tastes good. The other day I made banana bread that was fantastic (If I don't say so myself) and have just put another pan into the oven using our over ripe bananas and since I am procrastinating from writing report cards I thought I should share for all of you out there that wants to 'bake' but that doesn't require too much effort. I got the recipe from simplyrecipies.com but I made some alterations to it to make it a bit more healthy. Here goes:
Banana Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
- 3 to 4 ripe bananas - smashed
- 1/3 cup of coconut oil
- 1 cup of cane sugar
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- pinch of salt
- 1 1/2 cup of spelt flour
Method:
No need for a mixer for this recipe. Preheat oven to 350F. With a wooden spoon, mix coconut oil into the mashed bananas in a large mixing bowl. Mix in the cane sugar, egg and vanilla. Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over mixture and mix in. Add the spelt flour last, mix. Pour mixture into a coconut oil greased loaf pan (I also sprinkle on a bit of cinnamon just before putting into oven). Bake for 1 hour. Cool on rack. Remove from pan and voila! Tastes delish!

reflection

Soo it feels as if I have lost my posting groove. Hmm?! Moving into Toronto with Chris I have found a new daily routine....I wake up at 6, head to work for 7, arrive home at 5, pack up my gym things, head to the gym for either Yoga, Boxing, Spinning, weights or cardio and get back at 8...to then make din, put up my feet at 9 to watch a taped show to finally jump into bed - shooting for 10pm. Yes that is my new daily routine, and I do love it BUT I have yet to figure out how to add into the mix my various meditating hobbies (knitting, reading and posting)...which I feel to be an important part of who I am...so my new years resolution is this...figure out how to fit it all in..before I may have to fit in even more (puppy hopefully soon...wink wink). Anywhooooo my Christmas break was fantastic! Though Chris and my mom were sick and I had some sort of bug I still managed to appreciate all that we did! Muskoka for Bryce Christmas...always my favourite!, Ottawa with the Carriere crew where Crista made me feel at home and fed a crew of us a delish meal! Annnd Aspen. I would totally recommend going boarding/skiing there. The town is straight from a movie and was picture perfect. I was in awe! High of my holiday was and is the ever growing connection that Chris and I are creating xo
ps. Congratulations to Elecia and Tim on their new baby girl - Ryleigh!!
pps. Happy 3rd Birthday to Mitchell

calm before the party

I was going to say calm before the storm...but these next couple of days are going to be kick ass! I'm on day 4 of my vacay and it couldn't be going any better...so why not share...ha! (I have rollers in my hair and have already cleaned the place so looking for something to do) So Friday night after work, while Chris was in Chicago, I decided to have a night to myself and I rented on demand "The Holiday", while drinking a nice glass of red (teacher gift...hollla). I fell asleep half way into it. Lovely. The next day my sister and I joined our co-ed soccer team "Blue Balls" and made it to varsity stadium to play in an indoor soccer tournie...as per usual we didn't do so hot...but we played four games and I loved sprinting around! The day continued into night were Jodie and I met at Wade Studio to celebrate EightbyTen. What a cool evening. I posted a video of the night...Anthony took photos of everyone all night and did an amazing job! Sunday - relax and shop day...Monday yoga with my mom, lunch with my Niagara crew (Katie, Paul and Nicole) and then din with Jen at Sushi Inn. Did I mention I love this time of year! If you aren't bored already I am going to continue...ha! So this morning Steph and I started our first run of many and did an 8k (training mode here we come). We have both set aside running over the past few months, and instead I have been doing everything else...but as always it felt so amazing to be out running the streets (for the most part!)...Tonight Chris and I with some friends of his are going to see the Grinch who Stole Christmas...to then wake up tomorrow to go to the cottage until the 24th, Ottawa until the 26th, Tremblant on the 26th (boarding day), and then home on the 27th to see the girls...followed by a much awaited trip to Aspen on the 28th - 2nd! Holla!!
I will be posting later I'm sure! But I am going to live in each moment over the course of these 2 weeks! Have a happy holiday! peace and love!
