Red Carpet at the Oscars
She wins the award again...best dressed on the Red Carpet (in my opinion) goes to Cameron Diaz! I especially love the fact that she looks as if she had just stepped off the beach, walked into a salon, swept her hair in a perfect tie back and made her way over to the awards with no stress. I also loved that she didn't get her roots touched up and her hair still looked fab: but as Josie and I discussed she does know she looks fab, JT eat your heart out (she could have chosen another clutch though...very Aldo'ish) Second place is a tie and the award goes to.... Anne Hathaway & Forset Whittakers' wife; Keisha. Anne had me at Devil Wear's Prada (though she has to constantly win me over as I have never really been a fan) but she did look stunning tonight and can prove to all of us living in the wintery north that porcelain skin can look exquisite on some (just not on me)...and Keisha Whittaker had a fantastic dress on; it was perfect!

Yorkville Ice
Today was a day for teacher's in the making! At 9am this morning we all had to be in gym & health class. Not my idea of a perfect Saturday, but it wasn't too bad and we played a little "making the pizza" vollyball at the end. Afterwards, Katie, Nicole, Paul and I headed into town where we did some homework at Wholefoods in Hazelton Lanes and then headed into Yorkville to walk around before din din....and while walking around we were pleasantly surprised to see that Yorkville-Bloor was having their annual Ice Fest! Picture time! There were the coolest sculptures from mermaids, turtles, treasure chests to harry rosen, purses, Holts, piano's, hostess stands and more ...we made sure to have a shot with them all (check out facebook). We then went to my fav sushi place....Sushi Inn where we introduced the Italian to something a little different than pasta! ha! It was nice to be out and about with my classmates and to enjoy a sober (1 drink) laugh or four!
ps. we weren't laughing too hard when we went back to the cars to see them trapped in the school parking lot!
pps. 25km run tomorrow....eesh

lululemon manifesto
- Drink FRESH water and as much water as you can. Water flushes unwanted toxins and keeps your brain sharp.
- Love.
- Do one thing a day that scares you.
- Listen, listen, listen, and then ask strategic questions.
- A daily hit of athletic-induced endorphins gives you the power to make better decisions, helps you be at peace with yourself, and offsets stress.
- Write down your short and long-term GOALS four times a year. Two personal, two business and two health goals for the next 2, 5 and 10 years. Goal setting triggers your subconscious computer.
- Life is full of setbacks. Success is determined by how you handle setbacks.
- Your outlook on life is a direct reflection of how much you like yourself.
- That which matters the least should never give way to that which matters the most.
- Stress is related to 99% of all illness.
- Jealousy works the opposite way you want it to.
- Wake up and realize you are surrounded by amazing friends.
- The world is changing at such a rapid rate that waiting to implement changes will leave you 2 steps behind. DO IT NOW, DO IT NOW, DO IT NOW!
- Friends are more important than money.
- Breathe deeply and appreciate the moment. Living in the moment could be the meaning of life.
- Take various vitamins. You never know what small mineral can eliminate the bottleneck to everlasting health.
- Don’t trust that an old age pension will be sufficient.
- Visualize your eventual demise. It can have an amazing effect on how you live for the moment.
- Choose a positive thought. The conscious brain can only hold one thought at a time.
- Live near the ocean and inhale the pure salt air that flows over the water, Vancouver will do nicely.
- Observe a plant before and after watering and relate the benefits to your body and brain.
- Practice yoga so you can remain active in physical sports as you age.
- Children are the orgasm of life. Just like you did not know what an orgasm was before you had one, nature does not let you know how great children are until you have them.
- Dance, sing, floss and travel.
- Successful people replace the words “wish”, “should” and “try” with “I will”. Ineffective people don’t.
- Creativity is maximized when you’re living in the moment.
- Nature wants us to be mediocre because we have a greater chance to survive and reproduce. Mediocre is as close to the bottom as it is to the top, and will give you a lousy life.
- Do not use cleaning chemicals on your kitchen counters or floors. Someone will inevitably make a sandwich on your counter or a baby will crawl on the floor.
- SWEAT once a day to regenerate your skin.
- Communication is COMPLICATED. We are all raised in a different family with slightly different definitions of every word. An agreement is an agreement only if each party knows the conditions for satisfaction and a time is set for satisfaction to occur.
- Move your body and your heart will follow.
Top of the morning to ya
So this morning I strapped on my running shoes, layered up, grabbed some sharkies, filled my bottle with gatorade, clipped on my (new) shuffle and headed to the running room to run 21km's with my group. It was a slippery and wet run, but it felt awsome to be out and trekking through on a Sunday morning...of course it felt even better to be drinking my chai latte as I walked home. Ha! But what a great feeling to say to yourself that you basically ran a 1/2 marathon today....sorry for those who hate people talking about their proud moments...but hey it's an accomplishment. Next week we are bumping up the distance even more! yowza!
ps. Happy family day weekend everyone! Even though my fam is no where to be found!

Happy Valentine's Day!
As much as I hate to admit it, but I do love Valentine's day...I had my placement today and everyone was handing out valentines cards, there was a friendship assembly, all the teachers had a valentines lunch, everyone was wearing red, and everyone was smileing...but the most fun part was that there was an unlimited supply of cinnamon hearts. Out of all the candies in the world cinnamon hearts are my all time fav (might be tied with sour kids)...so when i started seeing red appear on shelves in late January I knew February 14th was approaching. Now as much as I say I love valentines I also do kind of think it's a lonely day....especially if you're not with the person you love. So Happy Valentines Day everyone here's to love, and relationships of all kinds, that enrich our lives.
Ps. I do have a date tonight though....Mitchell and I are enjoying a movie ;)

Dr. Oz is Back
Yesterday after my run I decided to do some stretching while watching Oprah. It feels as if it's been while since I have sat down and enjoyed my fav tv host, so it was nice to be reacquainted. Anywho so Dr. Oz was back in town and he shared with Oprah and the viewers the Ultimate Anti-Aging Checklist. Now that I am approaching 30 (please note that was tough to type out...and I still feel miles away from it), I felt the need to listen up. Of course I believe all in moderation, and it's nearly impossible to follow everything someone has to say, but it's good to listen and make an attempt to change the way you live for a better life.
Ultimate Anti-Aging Checklist:
1. Food
2. Exercise
3. Meditate
4. Sleep & Sex
5. Vitamins
Here is what the Doc had to say about each category...
Food: You should have 5 servings (5 fist fulls) of Antioxidants a day, 4 cups of green or white tea daily, 1 glass of red wine daily (right on!), 25mg of Fiber, daily Omega 3 (flax & seaweed...ya for sushi), and 1 to 2 tbsp of Olive oil a day.
Exercise: Get your heart rate up 3x a week (min. 20 mins). To calculate where your heart rate should be at when you are excerising here is the calculation: (220-age)*.80. Also you should do a min of 30 mins of strength training weekly and make sure to do flexibility exercises daily (yay for yoga)
Meditate: enough said (Dr. Oz says that you should chant "yumm" or if you do yoga you can chant "Ommm". The vibrations you feel when chanting help to release stress, and help to clear up your sinuses. Ps. "Om" is the sound the world makes when it's in perfect harmony...just a little tid bit I learnt when travelling in Thailand.
Sleep & Sex: Sleep - 7-8 hours a night Sex: 2-3 times a week. (ps. I read that when training for a marathon you should be sleeping 10-11 hours a night...ya ok...who has that much time?)
Vitamins: Vit D - 1000IU, Calcium with Magnesium, DHA Omega 3 600mg, 2 baby aspirin (IF over 40), and a multivitamin
...easy peasy!
note: smoking ages you 10 year!! 10 years PEOPLE!!
ps. What's with the record amount of snow days? I figure if we live in Canada, bring on the snow!

Spice Girls!
Here is an example of what a concert feels like from Seat 9 & 10 in 12th row on the floor... A-MAZING! Tonight Steph and I had an amazing time at the Spice Girls concert and we were overly shocked by how good our seats were. Steph even got a high five from baby spice. Incredible...it was more than I hoped it would be!! The songs, our seats, the dancers, the Spice Girls and all their moves and of course their costumes were all designed by Roberto Cavalli and they were fabulous! I would go again in a heart beat! "Slam your body down and wind it all around...." Here are a few pictures of the amazing concert! ps. thank you steph & Mr. Dold! Super nice of you!! xoPs. I took these pictures!
Don't mind me
After a peaceful weekend of dining & catching up with Box and Compton on Friday, going to the movies with Katie on Saturday night (We saw Mad Money...should get nominated for a Razzy award!) and running 18.5kms with the running room this morning I thought tonight would be a night of watching the half time show of the Super Bowl and getting some home work done...but no no no...I am heading to the Spice Girls concert tonight with Steph! Yay! I can't wait! So to prepare myself I have been listening to their greatest hits over and over. "If you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my friends, Make it last forever friendship never ends, If you wanna be my lover, you have got to give, Taking is too easy, but that's the way it is. .... " Ok so I am a little excited! Zigazig ha! (Hopefully I will get some sweet pics and will share them)
Ps. Today I also officially signed up for the mississauga marathon for May 11th and the 30km Race Around the Bay March 30th. Crazy!! So for all of you who are looking for someone to go to the movies with or for dinners on the weekends I am your gal! It's training time for me...(hopefully Box will be joining me..hint hint! JK she already has a marathon under her belt...I am jealous!)

Snow Day
Well the weather people were right it's snowing...and it doesn't look like it's going to let up! Which is fine by me, if we are going to live in a place that has seasons than bring on the snow!
Any who, well as some of you know I have signed myself up to run the Mississauga 42km Marathon on May 11th. ahhh! I have grown up running for as long as I can remember, I think it was training for ski racing when I was 13 that really forced me to run, and ever since then I have somewhat enjoyed going for a run (when the run is over being the best part). A few years ago I completed the Toronto 1/2 marathon and since I signed up the night before I remember hating everything about it, but of course crossing the finish line!! However, I have always had "running a marathon" on my bucket list and I figure now is the best time to go for it! So 2 weeks ago I signed up with the Oakville running room and I have been sleeping, eating & running ever since. When going for a group run last Sunday morning, I couldn't help but be so excited about this new committment in my life (but also a bit weary!) and to meet people who like myself also want to accomplish this amazing feat. Since Ive always run as a workout when ever it suited me, I never knew about this whole other world I have entered...it was like when I started road biking this past summer and I headed out for my first long ride up into Milton...and coming across a ton of bikers all doing the same thing...I was surprised that there was this whole other world I had no idea about, its the same with running...seeing lots of runners out early in the morning and waving and smiling to everyone as they past as most are still sleeping....has everyone always been doing this? (of course)! So for all of those of you have run a marathon I applaud you and appreciate those of you who have inspired me to follow the path. Happy February!
