Oscars

Can I just say that I was very disappointed in the fashion of the Oscars. Nicole Kidman, Gwynneth Paltrow, Beyonce (to name a few)...all looked ordinary or just wrong! However, Cameron Diaz stepped it up, and I thought she looked fabulous! Some of my favourite moments of the night were: Dreams Girls cast singing, Jayden (Will's Smith's son) presenting an award...sooo cute!, Forest Whitakers speech, Jack Nicolson (him just being at the awards is awesome, I always laugh when I see him) and my all time favourite was when the producer of The Departed gave a shout out to Leonardo DiCaprio. I think Leo FORSURE should have won best actor. He is an amazing actor, super cute, chill and cool, and in general a gift to the movie screen. My appreciation went up ten folds after I watched the movie Blood Diamond (sorry I am a preacher). As Josie and I discussed; for a person to qualify as best actor it should be about his present and past work, I feel Leo (first name basis) has so many amazing movies under his belt and he should have won, especially since he had 2 movies in the running. hmmm who do I speak to about this. Ok ok enough about that....anywho crazy how late the awards went to (12:18am) and of course I stayed up the entire time, and then some...watched the Barbara Walters special, watched a Sex and the City episode, and an Oprah show that I had taped...think I was up until 4am. I hate not being able to get to sleep! Oh ya that reminds me when Ellen was on the Barbara Walters show, Barbara asked her "If God were to call you up, what would you say to him" Ellen's response was "Thank you!"...I thought that was so great to hear...I think my mom would say the same thing...I guess I would too, but I am in a quarter life crisis (with a bunch of others..wink wink) that give me some time and I will answer the same way! Sorry I got off track...
Tonight I went to a SUPER hot yoga class...it was great....at one point I was like...umm is it raining in here? (Hot yogian's you'll know what I mean...Pam Compton was the instructor) Well thats all I have to say for tonight. I went and got Sushi for din, and I was thinking to my self..."there must be so much wasabi that goes to the waste in the world! I only use a dime worth, and they give you a golf ball size every time". ha! (If anyone has quotes I would love to hear them!!)

Shut Up and Sing

Today I went to blockbuster and rented "Shut Up and Sing". I can't remember the last time I watched a movie during the day, or the last time I rented a movie for just me...but there is always time for a first!
For those of you who don't know the movie, it's kind of a documentary about the Dixie Chicks and the public's reaction to the comment Natalie made about President Bush. To me it was such a powerful movie; it was very real and truthful, and much more than a silly comment. I think we can all learn something from this movie. What I took from it was we should all live our lives with no regrets! Favourite Dixie Chicks song: Taking the Long Way

Spring Must Haves

Random picture, but I think it's a "live in the moment" picture....doesn't everyone want to be walking a long a beach shore at the end of a day? Cause I do!! (click on the picture to see a better view)
I wrote a bunch of things yesterday, but as I was re-reading my post I almost fell asleep....so I decided to cut a bunch out....just incase anyone was wondering :)
Anywho, while I was in shoppers last night I picked up the new People Style Watch!! Favourite magazine of all time!! I probably should subscribe, but it's a nice thrill visiting shoppers and realizing it's on stand. Here are the Spring must haves for 2007 (fav part of the mag): 1. Silver Metallics (hmm I guess that's ok??) 2. Dresses (I love love love wearing dresses, hopefully there will be more in stores since they are "in") 3. Raffia (it's like a straw weave in your shoe...if that makes sense) 4. Rosettes (pretty, I like) 5. Brights (back to the 80's I guess....I still have my bright pink pumps that I can make work) 6. Cropped jackets (my all time FAV...Topshop is home of cropped jackets) 7. Clear (not cool with that, but i'll see what i can do) 8. Day Clutches (Again I have an obsession with clutches, so now I can have a legit reason to buy them...yay!) Well that's that, not too much else to say. Going out in Mississauga tonight which is a nice change.
ps. Music and Lyrics: I give it 2 stars
Peace out :)

Just a plane ride away

Carrie: Maybe our mistakes are what make our fate. Without them, what would shape our lives? Perhaps if we never veered off course, we wouldn't fall in love, or have babies, or be who we are. After all, seasons change. So do cities. People come into your life and people go. But it's comforting to know the ones you love are always in your heart. And if you're very lucky, a plane ride away.

If you don't already know or haven't already guessed i have a tiny obsession with "Sex and the City"...for those of you who don't have an appreciation for the show and haven't watched each episode over 100x's; than let me explain...to me it isn't all about the title of the show, but rather it's about relationships with the people in your life, whether that be your boyfriend (loved one), your closest girlfriends, your family, and or the rest of the friends and people in your life. I find that no matter what is happening in my life, I can find an episode where I can relate to one of the characters and relate to what they are going through. I don't really know how to explain it, but I know Josie shares the same thoughts. Anywho so every so often I will post a quote from the show and maybe I will inspire others to join the obsession...
Back stepping a little: my inspiration for writing this post was because I was just thinking about how some of my best friends are living all over the world, and more continue to make their leaps!
...speaking of Sex and the City, I am about to jump on the treadmill to watch an episode or two.
Ps. Random posting I know!
Pss. Going to head to a movie tonight to watch "Music and Lyrics" with Kim...will let you know how it is.

My Favourite Barbies

"Oakville Barbie" : This yuppie Barbie comes with your choice of BMW convertible or Hummer H2. Included are her own Starbucks cup, credit card and country club membership. Also available for this set are Shallow Ken and Private School Skipper. You won't be able to afford any of them.
"Muskoka Barbie": She's perfect in every way. We don't know where Ken is because he's always out a-"huntin (golfing)
I have a couple more barbies to share if anyone is interested...but I thought this was hilarious!! I don't understand the outfit for muskoka barbie, I guess it portrays an angel like person ?!?!
Ps. I don't consider myself to be either barbie, but I love the stereotype!!
PPs. I finally saw Grey's anatomy on Sunday...oh man is that show ever good!! I did shed a small tear when McDreamy realized he might lose Meredith. So sad!! What is going to happen? I have to tape it again this Thursday :( I don't think I can wait!
PPPs. Sorry about the extra large photo of me on the side, I'm trying to figure out how to re size it so it doesn't look like I'm "love myself barbie"!

Bald!

WHAT THE???
My sources from Ireland (andy) told me that the pop princess herself Britney Spears shaved her head last night. I didn't really beleive it, but when I logged onto People.com I found out it was true. Wow! Is all I have to say! Maybe this is her way of trying to start fresh, if so, all the power to her!

Music

Oh my gosh...this week has been very busy, I feel as if I haven't sat down in the last few days or even slept for that matter...but it's all good now cause it's Friday!! My feet are up, I am watching a greys re-run (cause I forgot to PVR last nights episode...yes thats right I have no idea what happened to Meredith..ahh) I have saved my new Flare, Instyle and Victoria Secret magazines for tonight and I am about to relaaaaax. "ahhhh" that's my sigh of relief!

Recap of my busy week: Wednesday night for Valentines Jodie, Heather and I went to the "My Love Life is a downward dog"...very random event, but we all got goody bags and free yoga mats. Very yummy!
Yesterday it was Jen and Christina's bday, and I came across a funny picture of the 3 of us from the summer, so I thought I would share(who is the shorty in the middle...all smiles). 9 girls went out for dinner last night to Kultura where we enjoyed some nibblies (only aps on the menu), had some champagne and celebrated chris' bday. Across the pond Jen is celebrating her bday tonight in Ireland with Andrew, Fraser and Jens class mates.

I am even exhausted in thinking about all that I have done these past few days so I am going to stop with my recap. However I wish Jen and Chris a Happy Happy Birthday!

So the other day while I was making my trek into work Keith Urban was being interviewed on 99.9 with Mag Dog and Billy. I didn't think I was a fan of his, but he then decided to play his song "Stupid Boy" and I became and instant fan! It was him and his guitar, and I totally did not want the song to end. I even went and bought the cd the same day. And lucky me as I was driving to work at 7 something this morning they repeated the interview and played his live song over...sooo good! It is such a surreal feeling when you hear a song and instantly it touches your heart and you connect to the lyrics, to the tune, or even to the voice of the singer and the mood they are in or the mood we are in; what ever the reason may be we are so lucky to have music in our lives! (it's something I cant really explain...it soothes and lifts the soul)

I think it's snowing

Well the weather man was right....we are going to get, and already have received a huge amount of snow! Today at work we were all told that the weather was scary bad west of the city, and we could all head out at 4:30 to be safe. I was thinking to myself...oh man I really want to be able to make it to yoga at 7, so hopefully i will arrive back in time. Well guess what? I made it home in record time, fastest I have been able to get home all year; 30 minutes to be exact...the only time i had to use my breaks was approaching the Trafalgar off ramp..I loved it!!! However, I then got all my stuff together, and headed to yoga where it turned to be a nightmare of a drive both ways...the highways are covered like we are in the Arctic. Tomorrow morning is not going to be fun!

Sunday showers...wedding showers!

Wrote last night: but Internet was down
I feel as if it's been awhile since I have focused on an entry...and even now I don’t have my full focus as I am watching the grammy's and my Internet is terrible right now...but none the less thought I would share some thoughts :) Today at my parents house (sorry i mean my house) we had a wedding shower for my cousin Elecia. First James girl to be engaged!! 1 down 5 to go!! We had a nice gathering of Elecia's relatives and friends...it's always so much fun having a room filled with females! We had a few lil' games we played, which we have been brainstorming all week. My mom chose the "what's in your purse game", I chose the "Famous Wives" game...I was June Cleaver and no one remembered my name (if you know the game you would understand) Some other famous wives we added to the mix: Princess Diana, Demi Moore, Wilma Flinestone, Mrs. Clause, Victoria Beckham...to name a few. Very interesting to see who pays attention to details and who has a great short term memory. Then Jodie chose the game (not sure the name...) "Pen into the bottle"....Here's a few pics that will demonstrate the uniqueness of the game. Jodie decided to practice the game last night in Collingwood...girls vs guys...with a couple bottles Im sure it could get interesting :) Also to note: Holly and Heather www.baby-cakes.com made AMAZING cupcakes for the shower...sooo good! YUMMY!!

Elecia: May your love be old fashion enough to survive the times and modern enough to last forever! Best wishes on your wedding day, I wish I could be there!! Cant wait to see all your pictures!!
Grammys: I am still watching them, but can I just tell you I feel as if they are soo good this year! Rascal Flats, Mary J. Blige, Justin Timberlake (his song was soo about his break up from CD), Beyonce, Shakira, Dixie Chicks....and the list goes on...they are all amazing performers!!
Ps. Diamond Ear covers are the new bling
Pps. I’m sorry to be rude, but PEOPLE if I was never friends with you before, and that means I had never even said hello to you in the halls in high school, that means we were never friends, so why is it you have added me to your facebook list of friends? This is not a popularity contest!?!?!

Facebook

In this new world of computers, emails and internet it doesn't surprise me of all the craziness going on with msn, myspace, blogs, and now a new concept (or new to my generation, people no longer in school) facebook that has been added to the list. Facebook at first was very intriguing to me, it's nice to check up (kind of stalkerish) on friends that you havent talked to or seen in awhile. However it has now turned to be an obsession for people and I feel like we are all back in highschool trying to get people to sign our year books so we look cool...or am I alone on this? I of course will continue to be a participant in facebook as I am still intrigued, but what ever happened to the good old days of picking up the phone or meeting for tea to catch up on life?

Bumper cars: There are a record amount of accidents going on every morning. What puzzles me the most, is how are all these drivers getting into accidents when I am barely even moving along the highway...hmmmm?
Ps. I like adding pictures to my blogs, even if they don't relate!! It also reminds me of summer!! The count down is on!

Grande, non-fat tazo chai Please

Who ever came up with the idea of opening Starbucks....brilliant! It has now officially been added to the dictionary as a term used for getting coffee or tea (not officially but you know what i mean)...and in my case tazo chai, it is the same sort of idea as how popular google is to the majority of people..."Google it"... "Lets go for a Starbucks". Not sure why I decided to mention my good friend Starbucks, but i think it's because sometimes all one needs is a warm cup of tea to lift their spirits on a freeeeeeeezing cold day like today. I also remember when I moved to Ireland last year, and they had yet to open a Starbucks there until a couple months into my stay there. I would plan our visit (which could only happen every couple weeks or so, as it is super expensive, and i was super broke), and it was a nice little place to go where it reminded me of home....also because before I left to move to Ireland, Jodie bought me a Toronto Starbucks mug, and it was then that i decided I should collect mugs from around the world. To date the mugs I have collected are: Toronto, Dublin, Scotland, London, Barcelona, New York, and Seoul Korea (I think that's it...1/2 of my collection is still in Dublin and 1/2 is here in Toronto)

Thought I would add this picture of Jodie, Kevin and I....I especially like the background...we were at the Sam Roberts Concert at the Key to Bala this past summer. oh i miss summer!!!

Strike a Pose!

Aren't we soo hot? I especially love my saggy knees...he he! Last weekend 5 of us went to Heather's family cottage and had a relaxing weekend get-a-way. We broke the record for longest hot tub session in one night (with some vino), went on a couple snowmobile rides, played a unique game of scrabble, had a yoga session with the puppies, and saw the largest snowman I have ever seen in my life (it was the size of a house...no joke!!) ... and now the week is almost over and I am ready for another weekend.

A couple things that that happened or that I thought of today that made me smile: Number 1: Getting your highlights touched up (I know I am a tiny bit vain...but it just lifts your spirits when you have nice hair, and that's what I got done today) Number 2: Someone else washing my hair (with of course a nice little massage) Number 3: When the new People Style Watch magazine comes on stand ...love it!! Number 4: Writing a Valentine's day card to someone I love, and sending them a care package! Number 5: Watching Greys Anatomy... and seeing the reaction when Christina finally says yes to Burke! Number 6: Listening to a song that touches your heart (Chicago: if you leave me now) Number 7: Great Friends, the ones you can talk to! Number 8: Finding a great pair of black pants that fit perfectly!

Ps. Please visit this Youtube link. For those of you who are out of the loop, this clip has been getting soo much attention. It was on the Today show yesterday morning, it has been all over the news, and on all the morning radio shows, and news papers. After getting an email from my sister, I didn't realize that good friends of ours the Behan's created this video for a chance to create something different. Jodi is the bride to be, and Jessie her sister is the maid of honour. I grew up with these girls on the ski hill at the Peaks. This was all a stunt! But super funny to watch! ....they will be interviewed on the Today show tomorrow morning! I will be PVR'ing it!

Ppps. Did Yang's engagement ring not look identical to my good friend Ex-Mrs Federline's ring?
